Troubleshooting

Sign-in codes, a message that seems to do nothing, refused files, a short model list, and unavailable choices.

Find the symptom below. If yours is not here, Help lists what is not available yet and says what to include when you report a problem.

The sign-in code or link does not work

  • “That code expired. Send a new one.” means more than 15 minutes have passed since it was sent. Ask for a new one from the sign-in page.
  • “That sign-in link expired. Enter your email below for a new one.” is the same for a link.
  • “That code is invalid, expired, or already used.” Check the digits you typed. Each code and link works once, so one you have already used will not work again; ask for a new sign-in email.

I sent a message and nothing seems to happen

Look under your message. “Waiting for the chat runtime to pick this up.” means the message has been accepted and is waiting its turn. “Waiting for the chat runtime — it is not running.” is shown only when the runtime has itself reported that it is not running; it has to be started by whoever runs your deployment.

  1. Wait a moment and look again before sending again: sending again adds a second message.
  2. If it stays stuck, report it with the details listed in Help.

A file was refused

Attachments accept plain text, Markdown, CSV, JSON and Jupyter notebooks (.ipynb), up to 8 MB per file and 5 files per message. A file outside those limits is refused and the card says why. See Files and attachments.

The model list has one model, or none

The models you can pick are the ones your deployment has set up, so a short list is a setting of the deployment, not something to fix in the chat. If there is no model at all, chat is unavailable until one is configured by whoever runs your deployment.

Your computer says “No connected computer”

  • If no computer is enrolled, set one up under Settings, Machines and devices.
  • If one is enrolled but has not checked in recently, start the Crossbox app on it and try again.

The @ menu shows why web search is unavailable. “Web search isn’t set up on this server.” and “Web search is set up but isn’t switched on for chats yet.” are choices made by the deployment, not by your account.
