About Crossbox

A chat box that carries on where a chat box usually stops.

Crossbox is a conversation-first, model-independent environment for getting work done with AI. It starts as a chat box.

The application is not open to the public yet. This page describes what Crossbox is for and what it does today in the private application.

Whichever model you choose plugs into the same Crossbox. Your history, memory, tools and approvals stay with Crossbox, not with the model.

What it is for

You talk to Crossbox the way you would to any assistant. The aim is that a conversation can become bounded work: something with a goal, a place to run, and a result you can check, rather than an answer that disappears into scrollback.

It is built to keep its state across sessions and devices, to use tools and computers only under authority you have given, and to show what it did and why.

Independent of any one model

Crossbox is not built around a single model provider. You choose a model in the composer; the environment around it, which means your history, memory, tools and approvals, belongs to Crossbox and not to the model.

How a piece of work is shaped

Crossbox is designed so that every piece of work is described by the same few things, which lets the result be checked against what was asked.

Goal
What you want done, in your own words.
Knowledge
What Crossbox is allowed to use: the conversation, and memory you have chosen to keep.
Authority
What Crossbox may do. Anything consequential is asked about first, and you can say no.
Outcome
A result that is checked against the goal, with the evidence for it.
Continuity
The work and its context are still there when you come back.

Axmion

Crossbox is a product of Axmion, which develops it as proprietary software.

Axmion's aim for it is the one stated above: a conversation that can become bounded work, whichever model sits behind it.

What exists, and what is still ahead

Today Crossbox is a private application: a chat where you choose a model and how hard it works, attach text files, and approve any step that has an effect. It is not open to the public yet, and the waitlist is the way to register interest.

Parts of what is described above are still being built. This page states the purpose of the product, not a list of what is finished.
